THE RFMF AND RFMF JUNIOR BOARDS AND THE LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE ARE DELIGHTED TO INVITE YOU TO TAKE PART IN THE 18TH RFMF SCIENTIFIC DAYS,TO BE HELD
IN LILLE FROM MAY 19 TO 22, 2026.

11 years after the last RFMF JS in the region in 2015, Lille is back with a vengeance to host the 18th RFMF JS in 2026.

The capital of the Hauts-de-France region, at the crossroads of the Flemish and French cultures, Lille is a dynamic city with a rich architectural heritage and a warm atmosphere. Founded in the 11th century on the banks of the River Deûle, the city has preserved traces of its medieval past, from Burgundian grandeur to the splendor of the Spanish era, visible in the colorful facades of Vieux-Lille. Today, Lille is a leading university, cultural and economic metropolis, renowned for its scientific vitality, contemporary art scene and friendly welcome. It also occupies a strategic position at the heart of Europe: less than 90 minutes from Paris, London, Brussels or Amsterdam, Lille has always forged close links with its European neighbors, notably Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK. This tradition of openness is reflected in its cosmopolitan population and the many cross-border partnerships it cultivates. Once an important trading center for French Flanders, many Flemish influences still live on today, notably in its gastronomy. Welsh, carbonnade flamande, frite-fricadelle, tarte aux maroilles, coq à la bière or moules-frites, to be enjoyed in estaminets, typical restaurants of the North, accompanied by a local craft beer. As a city of science, exchange and innovation, Lille offers the ideal setting for the 18th RFMF Scientific Days, an opportunity for discovery, encounters and inspiration.

 Deesse

At the heart of Lille’s Grand’Place stands the column of the Goddess, an iconic figure of the city. Erected to commemorate the resistance of the people of Lille during the siege of 1792, she embodies determination, solidarity, and resilience in the face of adversity.

These values resonate with the spirit of the RFMF Congress: bringing together a united, committed, and ever-evolving scientific community to address the analytical and biological challenges of studying metabolic systems. The Goddess thus becomes a symbolic landmark, linking historical heritage and collective ambition
